Green

Ok. It's time for the talk (those words make you nervous, don't they?) -- the green talk, that is. If you are one of those people who leaves on all the lights or takes 30-minute showers, take a moment to read these facts. A one- or two-minute reduction of your average shower can save up to 700 gallons of water per month. Incandescent light bulbs (the normal shaped ones) produce 90% heat and only 10% light, while halogen lights are only slightly better, but last much longer. See? I bet you never knew that these minuscule changes could save so much energy and water. What are some simple things you can do to be more "green?" Turn off the lights if you're the last one to leave a room. Turn off your TV if you're not watching it. Unplug things like your cell phone charger and stereo so you're not wasting energy. The way I see it, the world needs to give back to mother nature. Right? If we just take and take and take and take, the earth will be practically empty of natural resources for our grandchildren --- and no one wants that! So, be responsible for your own actions and be conscious of what you are doing...or not doing.

I'll bet you think you're not contributing to global warming, don't you? Well, sorry to tell you, but we're all contributing to it in some way. You can find out just how much you are contributing to it by measuring your carbon footprint. A carbon footprint is a measurement of the impact of your activities on the environment. This is measured in terms of the amount of greenhouse gases are produced from your activities. So, go measure at
